Keen-eyed readers may note something unusual about the pattern of stars in the night sky here.

Edit: Kudos to reader AstroNerd63, who correctly calculated that this strip is indeed not set in the present day, but in the year 35,482 B.C., on Tuesday 13 March. At 22:47. And that the scene is as viewed from southern Japan.

Edit 2: AstroNerd63 has admitted that she didn't calculate that from the stars at all, but rather from the time machine control panel shown in the corner of panel 3 of the comic. She just used photoshop's "Enhance" function to enlarge it until it was legible.
