An update on the Postcard Secret Santa project. I know a lot of you are still waiting for your gifts, and I finally learnt why this is happening.
Apparently the matching algorithm I coded up matched every single gift recipient who signed up to the same Secret Santa. That person contacted me and said that although they've made good progress on buying gifts for everyone on their list, they're still only about a third of the way through. They didn't realise when they signed up that agreeing to get an additional gift to cover for any Santas who fell through meant that they'd end up having to get gifts for over 8000 people.
Not that they were complaining, but it was just taking a long time to physically wrap and box everything and take them to the post office. They expect to get through sending roughly 30 gifts a day, but that will still take them more than halfway to next Christmas.
So if you're still expecting a gift, please be patient.
