The author writes:

A reader named Kim Tran Nguyen contacted me yesterday to say that he had just successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in pure mathematics, on the topic of "necessity and application of hyperdimensional permutational knot theory to the plot of Postcard".

He's also offered me co-authorship on a paper which, his thesis advisor reckons, has a decent shot at winning the Fields Medal.
