A ten-minute delay means you can't get a parking space, which means you have to park further away, which adds another ten minutes' walking time, which means you've arrived after the line has already grown long, adding another twenty minutes' waiting time, during which the machine breaks down and you have to wait for them to fix it, et cetera. In the end that tiny problem with the shoes kept you from accomplishing anything all day.
