The author writes:

I decided to try something new with the randomized strip format; I took the 1st panel from a randomized SRoMG strip, the 2nd panel from another, and the 3rd from yet another.

This was actually originally gonna be a shifting mid-point strip, but strips #1009 and #2108 (the mid-point and latest strips at the time) really didn't allow for that sort of mash-up.
