Bertha {while petting}: He could use some meat on his bones
{Hearing this, Garfield perks up in happiness}
{Garfield is now affectionately hugging her leg}
Bertha: Affectionate sort, isn't he?
Jon: He's a sucker for blondes

The author writes:

So I noticed Bertha actually reappeared after this arc in a 2003 Sunday strip. Noticeably she was blonde there (and lost 200 pounds), as opposed to the recolored dailies of this arc where she's brown. So I fixed it in GIMP so she's blonde here for consistency, even editing Jon's line to reflect the change.

Note: Interestingly Jim avoided having her on a Sunday for this arc, despite it being over a week long.
