{A sweater flies by Garfield}
Garfield: According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a sweater should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The sweater, of course, flies anyway because sweaters don't care what humans think is impossible.
The author writes:
According to all known laws of humor, there is no way this joke can work. The punchline is too labored to get its stupid little idea off the ground. The author, of course, tells the joke anyway because the author doesn't care about what sane people think is funny.
