The author writes:

The original strip is etymologically incorrect; almost no spiders feed on blood, whereas mosquitoes are famous for it. As such this strip has been edited to be more scientifically accurate. (The stylet is the piercing part of a mosquito's mouthparts; as a bonus it's very straw like.)
