The author writes:

There's no real deep reason for this strip's existence, I just couldn't resist the visual pun. Though I like to think this alters the strip's tone. The original strips provides the basic 'Garfield is narcissistic' joke, while the SRoMG strip based on it plays it straight. This strip on the other hand suggests that Garfield has legitimate difficulties with imagining random things.
