Strip by: Josep Nollette

{Earl and Opal Pickles stand by a table with a bowl in the middle.}
Opal: Nelson didn't finish his cereal!
Earl: Well, he liked it yesterday...
Opal: He hates it when we feed him the same thing twice in a row! How much did you buy??
Earl: It was a large box. I thought we'd save money.
{An irate Opal is on her computer writing her column.}
Opal (typing): "Things you should never buy at CostClub..." by Opal Pickles

The author writes:

At least a decade in the past there was a Pickles comic where Opal Pickles (the grandmother) writes to General Mills demanding that they sell Lucky Charms marshmallows separately, but I didn't remember the context. Once I found that strip's date and could read it again, I had the idea to turn it into a social commentary about bulk-buying.

Original Pickles strip: 2012-02-09 (subscription required, but you can also view the original strip here).
