The author writes:

This caption was pulled from The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest Dataset, for cartoon #796 (April 11, 2022). It was rated as the unfunniest caption out of 5604 possible picks. 60 people voted on it, and all of them said it was not funny.

I chose this specific cartoon because it's the first one I came across that (1) was an actual attempt at a joke and not spam, (2) had no swearing or offensive language, and (3) had no "somewhat funny" or "funny" votes. The 2nd "worst" caption was also entirely voted to be not funny, but had only 56 votes instead of 60.
