Strip by: KelpTheGreat

{Nancy is lying face-up on the couch, staring at the ceiling}
Nancy: When does life stop being a struggle? When does it switch to being easy all the time?
Fritzi: No clue, Nancy, You've got to find out and let me know.
Nancy: Huh. I see...
Nancy: {thinking, with a frown on her face} It never does.

The author writes:

This is the start of the series that I alluded to in the author comments of this strip.

As I was doing my Olivia Jaimes-era Nancy binge, I noticed that a lot of the punchlines involved something bad happening to Nancy, but she responds with boundless, unwarranted optimism. So I thought it'd be funny to subvert the regular punchlines and just have her be really depressing.

Even though I'm calling this a series - and the title "spiral into depression" suggests a decline of mental states - none of these are in chronological order. If I was a better contributor, I might plan out that sort of thing.
