T-Rex: I just got offered a great deal.
T-Rex: On some LOUDSPEAKERS!
T-Rex: A guy with a white van was selling them in the mall car park for a ridiculous low price. Said they had too many in stock!
Utahraptor: Um. That's a scam.[1]
T-Rex: Whut? I got 24 speakers for a dollar.
Utahraptor: Oh.
Utahraptor: Wow.
T-Rex: I had to pay a heck of a lot for the van to move them all, though!

[1] White van speaker scam, Wikipedia.

While writing this comic, we determined that both of us (DMM and TM) had in fact actually been approached in public by guys wanting to sell us "cheap speakers" from out the back of a van. TM had encountered this scam in the car park of a shopping mall in Queensland, while DMM had encountered it on George Street in Sydney, right in front of Martin Place - for crying out loud.

(This is pretty much the equivalent of someone trying to pull this scam in Times Square, New York, or Trafalgar Square, London.)
