Film director Werner Herzog is alleged to have vowed to fellow director Errol Morris that if the latter ever successfully completed his film Gates of Heaven (a documentary about pet cemeteries), Werner would eat his shoe. On the premiere of Gates of Heaven, Werner fulfilled his oath. The event was recorded and the footage* later released as the documentary short Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe.
