Strip by: Henning Makholm

{Jon and Garfield are facing away from each other}
Jon: Listen to this, Garfield.
Jon: As we grow older, your attention span gets shorter.
Jon: Pretty interesting, huh?
Garfield: What?

The author writes:

We've had a few strips where the order of the action in the strip get reversed. Here the idea is just to reverse each character separately. This proves to increase the tension of the (unchanged) dialogue considerably. Apparently, Garfield is seriously angry with Jon for some reason, whereas Jon tries to explain away his behaviour as some kind of old man's ADD, all while conspicuously avoiding eye contact. Garfield ain't buyin' any of that. Well, would you?

Original strip: 1989-06-13.
