Episode A.9: Once Upon a Planet

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

Yeah, that planet where everyone almost got killed last time (in fact, McCoy did get killed - he just got better)? And the only reason they survived was because they ran into the Caretaker, who explained things and kept the machines under control?

Let's go back there, and land on the surface without even attempting to contact the Caretaker first. Great idea! That sure won't go wrong!

And M'Ress... Clearly when she's not relieving Uhura at the communications console, she's earning a few extra credits on the side by taking calls from lonely spacefarers.

1
Captain's log, Stardate 5591.2. For R&R we've returned to the Shore Leave planet, where everyone almost died last time.
White Rabbit: You'll be late! You'll be late!
Alice: It's a sort of threat, you see.
2
Caption: Uhura is captured by a rogue computer!
Computer: I will kill all humans and steal your ship!
3
Kirk: To the rescue! {Charlie's Angels type action pose with Spock and McCoy}
4
{bridge}
Kirk: {over radio} Enterprise, come in.
M'Ress: M'Ress here. Purrr... What can I do for you... captain? Purrr...
Kirk: Uh...
M'Ress: Whoops! My gravity has fallen off... Purrr...
5
{back on the planet}
Spock: The Caretaker is dead. I surmise the thought-reading computer has run amok.
McCoy: Jim, you'll have to talk it to death.
Kirk: I have a better idea!
6
Kirk: It's the natural order for machines to be subservient to white... uh, living beings. You should be happy with your role.
Computer: This is logical. I accept.
Kirk: Another moral lesson!
