The author writes:

Since the strips.garfield.com takedown, I'm experimenting with a new strip source: the digital versions of the Garfield compilation books. I dragged-and-dropped this strip from the free sample of Garfield Chickens Out into my image editor, and made this edit mainly as a test run. I'm not looking forwards to having to pay for the full books, but I suppose that’s the price of quality and reliability.

Notice that the "original strip" date below is accompanied by a linked book number. If I'm going to be getting my material from the compilation books, it's only right that I cite them appropriately.
