Delkin: That's the one.
Oliver: The vital part of an ancient rite performed each year, which according to ancient prophecy prevents the town being destroyed by fire?
{Delkin taps his nose}
SFX: tap tap!
Oliver: Oh crud! I'm a protagonist!

Traditionally, protagonists have to overcome three obstacles to foil the villain and resolve the situation, each of which is of greater difficulty than the one before.

The first of the three obstacles in the "Jade Owl Affair" is the struggle to determine who is the Protagonist, and who will be relegated to "Side-Kick".
