{Samantha and Holly are in a small boat, Samantha at the duffer of an outboard motor}
SFX: Zooom!!
Holly: Look out, Sam! You're going too fast! You're going to hit that—
SFX: DU-GONG!!
{Sam and Holly are thrown from the boat as they collide with an Indo-West Pacific member of the order Sirenia}

The author writes:

The order Sirenia is composed of the manatees (3 extant species) and the dugong. The manatees have an Atlantic distribution, while the dugong ranges across the Indian and West Pacific Oceans.
