The author writes:

A semantic field is a group of words with the same sort of general meaning - kinship terms, colour terms, that sort of thing. If that sounds vague, that's because it's a pretty vaguely defined concept.

The words I've used in the comic are really more just synonyms than words in the same semantic field, but that's what you get when I realise the joke is entirely contained in the title.
