T-Rex: BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!
T-Rex: BLOOD!
T-Rex: But not if you've lived in the UK in the past 10 years, or have engaged in male to male sexual intercourse, or have donated in the last 90 days.
Utahraptor: I've got a runny nose today. Can I donate?
T-Rex: NO!
T-Rex: THE BLOOD GOD IS GROSSED OUT BY YOUR PHLEGM!!

The author writes:

So... here in Australia you're not allowed to donate blood if you've spent more than 6 months in the UK during the period 1980 to 1996.

I assume this can't be the same rule in the UK? Otherwise almost nobody there would be allowed to donate blood, right?

Indeed, the NHIS indicates explicitly that if you live in the UK and have not left the country in the last 6 months you can donate blood (pending other health requirements).
